A must see for lovers of history, colonial architecture, arts and sculpture. It is located in the city center, in Morro de São Bento hill.

Colonial Brazil

A visit to the São Bento Monastery is a step back in time and a must-see tour of colonial Brazil. The rich interior of the monastery, with almost half a ton of gold (430 kg, more exactly) covering its walls and its sacred art is testimony to the rich times of our past.
